About Marlene Allen
Psalmist Marlene Allen born to Professor Ernest & Lorraine Allen; a Chicago family deeply rooted in gospel music. Marlene grew up performing with her twin sister, Darlene (Allen Twins), accompanied on organ by brother Ernest Allen, Jr. They performed at numerous churches, talent shows and other events across the nation. From an early age, Marlene demonstrated an innate love for music. She could often be heard around her home singing and harmonizing with music of all genres.
Known for her melodic tones, soulful sound and natural flow in worship, Marlene continues to soar as a leading voice in gospel music. She possesses a remarkable musical gift that brings joy and encouragement to everyone she touches.
Marlene Allen instantly captivates the hearts of audiences through her musical ability and spiritual charisma. Marlene’s musical gift has made room for her to sing background for some of the Gospel greats such as Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, Yolanda Adams, Bishop Rance Allen, John P. Kee, Dorinda Clark, Bishop Marvin Winans, Kirk Franklin and many others.
In 2002 she officially answered God’s call to evangelism. In 2015 she was ordained as an Elder with DAN Ministries and has traveled extensively, ministering at youth services, women’s retreats, and conferences. Marlene is a compassionate servant leader with a passion for helping others. She founded and oversaw a nonprofit, social services organization serving at-needs children and families throughout Illinois for over 11 years.
Marlene is a SHRM Certified Human Resources professional. She currently serves as a Human Resources Director for a state agency. She has several advanced degrees including a masters in human resources from DePaul University and a Doctorate in Religious Studies. Marlene is the proud mother of Melodee and Miracle and together the three of them (affectionately known as Marlene & The Girls) enjoy uplifting others by singing harmonic and uplifting songs Hymns of HOPE on FB Live.
